A group of nudists are letting it all hang out as they host their own n*ked Olympic games to pay homage to the ancient Greeks, Dailystar reports.
The group wearing nothing but a suntan engaged in football, beach
volleyball, swimming, race walking and sprinting. All the action takes
place at Abrico Beach in Grumani, near Rio.
The games also feature non-Olympic sports including tug of war,
surfing and Peteca - a traditional game in Brazil played with a hand
shuttlecock. Players are happy to give passersby an right eyeful to pay
tribute to their Greek predecessors who also competed sans clothing to
honour the gods.
Elisangela Santiago, head of Rio's Abrico Beach Naturist Association, revealed how the aim was to "push the boundaries and have fun".
"We decided we wanted to enjoy the Olympics in a novel and liberating way that paid tribute to the origins of the sport," she said.
Elisangela insisted all shapes and sizes were welcome to join in, adding: "It doesn't matter if you haven't got an athletic bone in your body."
Elisangela added: "Our games are all about encouraging people
to feel good about themselves and promote a healthy and positive way of
living freely and be at one with nature.
"There's no point in worrying what you look like when you bend
over to pick up the ball, getting embarrassed when you fall over with
your legs up in the air or bothering about your bits jiggling as you
sprint for the finishing line."
The naked Olympic games take place every weekend until September 18 at Abrico beach, tucked away in the mountains in rural Rio.
